385164 (8322). Road cuttings at Walpa.

Abstract:
Coongulmerang Formation.

Geology:
Beds of yellow micaceous silt and fine quartz sand exposed to a road cutting have been designated to the Coongulmerang Formation. This unit lies unconformably over the main Miocene - Pliocene beds in the Bairnsdale area but is exposed at only a few localities. It is overlain either by Haunted Hill Gravel or by gravels and alluvium of the Mitchell River terraces.
