Geological heritage sites, including sites of geomorphological interest and volcanic heritage sites, are under regular revision by the Geological Society of Australia, especially in the assessment of significance and values. Location:
911943. Diggers Hole Track, Mt Nunniong.

Abstract:
Graptolite fossil locality.

Access:
Diggers Hole Track.

Ownership:
Crown land.

Geology:
Poorly preserved Late Ordovician graptolites occur in sediments consisting of interbedded quartz and mudstones. Coarsely spotted phyllites and hornsfelsic material become more prominent close to the contact with the Nunniong Granodiorite.

Significance:
Local. Fossil sites in Ordovician sediments are uncommon in Eastern Victoria.

Management:
Graptolites are rare at this site. The site could be degraded over collecting or removal of the graptolite bearing material.
