Grampians Granite Land Unit

This land unit consists of Devonian granite and granodiorite within the vicinity of the Grampians. These granites are known as the Victoria Valley Granite and the Mafeking Granodiorite. The main landform is moderately steep low hills, with some gentler rises. The major soil type on the crests and slopes of the low hills is a deep sandy soil (Tenosol), although Mottled Brown Chromosols can also occur.
