General Land Unit Description:
This land unit occurs on the alluvial plains of the Wannon River and its tributaries in the south-west of the study area. The major soil type used to represent this unit is a Black Dermosol, although Sodic Black Vertosols are co-dominant.

A10-15 cmVery dark brown (10YR2/2) sandy loam, a few faint yellow and orange oxidised root mottles, weak subangular blocky structure (10-15 mm), very firm consistence when dry, pH 5.2. Transition to:

B1115-40 cmVery dark brown (10YR2/2) clay loam, many faint orange and yellow oxidised root mottles, weak to massive structure, strong consistence when dry, pH 5.8. Transition to:

B1240-100 cmVery dark brown (10YR2/2) clay loam, many very faint orange and yellow mottles, weak subangular blocky structure (10-15 mm), strong consistence when dry, pH 6.9. Transition to:
