General Land Unit Description:
This soil type occurs on the level plains of the duricrust around Glenthompson. There is commonly a layer of ferruginous nodules within the topsoil, principally in the A2 horizon. This layer can sometimes become cemented. This feature is the major limitation for land use.

Dark brown (10YR3/3) fine sandy loam, weak to massive structure, pH 5.6. Clear transition to:

20-45 cm

Pale brown (10YR6/3) fine sandy loam conspicuously bleached (10YR7/2) when dry, massive structure, ferruginous nodules are abundant. Sharp transition to:

Subsoil

B21

45-100+ cm

Yellowish brown (10YR5/6) medium clay, many red (2.5YR4/6) mottles, strong blocky structure (20-40 mm), pH 6.7.

Key profile features:

Strong texture contrast between topsoil and subsoil

Ferruginous nodules are abundant in A2 horizon
