General Landscape Description: Gently undulating plain.
Site Description: Nitrous oxide trial site.
Geology: Quaternary basalt.

A10-10 cm Dark brown (7.5YR3/2); some rusty root mottling; fine sandy clay loam; moderate coarse blocky, parting to strong medium to very fine polyhedral structure; very firm consistence dry; pH 5.0; clear change to:

B2110-30 cmDark brown (7.5YR3/2); medium clay; coarse medium to very fine polyhedral structure; weak consistence moist; pH 5.5; gradual change to:
B2230-65 cmDark brown (7.5YR3/2) with yellow (10YR7/6) mottles; medium heavy clay; weak to moderate coarse prismatic, parting to moderate coarse to medium sub-angular, and moderate medium to fine lenticular structure; firm consistence moist; pH 6.0; clear change to:
