1-15 Doline pair - Jones Ridge

  • An assessment of the Geological/Geomorphological Significance of Private Land in the Shire of Portland (1981) by N. Rosengren, J Mallen, T Shepherd.
Geological heritage sites, including sites of geomorphological interest and volcanic heritage sites, are under regular revision by the Geological Society of Australia, especially in the assessment of significance and values. Reference should be made to the most recent reports. Locality:

7121-246909. Four kilometres south of Drik Drik.

Access:

Nelson-Winnap Road.

Geology/Geomorphology:

Two large symmetrical blind dolines, approximately circular in plan, have developed in Bridgewater Formation dune limestones.

Significance:

Regional. These features are good examples of symmetrical dolines.

Management:

Quarrying and waste disposal should be prohibited at the site.
