1-31 Malanganee Sand Sheet near Puralka

Geological heritage sites, including sites of geomorphological interest and volcanic heritage sites, are under regular revision by the Geological Society of Australia, especially in the assessment of significance and values. Reference should be made to the most recent reports. Locality:

7122-052128. 1.5 kilometres south-west of Puralka.

Access:

Deaners Road off Ridge Road.

Geology/Geomorphology:

This site is typical of the topography of the Quaternary siliceous sand sheets (Malanganee Sand). The sand sheets are extensive in the western parishes of the Portland Shire. The topography consists of low, discontinuous sand ridges approximately 1.5 m in height.

Significance:

Regional. This is a typical example of the topography of the Malanganee Sand.

Management:

Because of the area covered by the site, the main geomorphological features cannot be affected adversely by any form of land disturbance.
