1-5 Island Swamp

Geological heritage sites, including sites of geomorphological interest and volcanic heritage sites, are under regular revision by the Geological Society of Australia, especially in the assessment of significance and values. Reference should be made to the most recent reports. Locality:

7121-355924. Five kilometres south of Greenwald.

Access:

Heath Road off Princes Highway.

Geology/Geomorphology:

Island Swamp is a typical wetland developed on a low volcanic plateau where little stream dissection has occurred.

Significance:

Local. This is typical of numerous wetlands in the area.

Management:

Stock access to the swamp should be controlled or removed.
