4-8 Harman Valley lava flow near Wallacedale

Locality:

722-757004. Four kilometres south-west of Wallacedale.

Access:

Wallacedale-Byaduk Road.

Geology/Geomorphology:

Well developed side curtain ridges about 3 to 5 metres high occur parallel to the clearly defined northern edge of the Harman Valley lava flow. This edge of the flow is gullied, and may be an incipient lateral stream.

Significance:

State. The ridges are typical features of the western section of the Harman Valley flow and are well preserved because of the youthful nature of the flow.

Management:

Quarrying or removal of the lava material should be prohibited.
