| Major Mitchell wrote of the great agricultural potential of the area. He could not have foreseen the coming of the gold era which was to so change the landscape. The miners rushed here in the 1850s and 1860s. This is the Union Mine situated on Mt Greenock. It was operating during the 1860s. It and the other mines encouraged the emergence of the town of Dunach at the foot of Mt Greenock. |
