In 1964 5 stone in mesh groynes were constructed to stop stream bank erosion at this point. At the same time tamarisk and poplars were planted along with phalaris grass. The areas was fertilized and mulched. The result 18 years later is a stabilised gully area. The groynes have been all but covered by the deposition of silt. The trees prevent that from being swept downstream.
