4.1.4.5 - How should I maintain my irrigation system?

Return to Main Menu | Return to Step 4 | Return to Step 4.1 | Return to Step 4.1.4 | Next Step

The main maintenance requirement is controlling weeds in the channel and drainage system. Normally, this is carried out using chemicals, but occasionally desilting may be required in places.

For further information, see the DPI “Target 10 (external link) Irrigation and Drainage Reference Manual" (Mulcahy and Schroen, 1993) (external link).

Drainage reuse pumps and motors (and other pumps, such as pipe and riser) need servicing; regularly if diesel powered or perhaps annually if electric.
Otherwise, maintenance requirements are limited to occasional repairs as required.
