2.3.5 - How well is my irrigation being applied?

Return to Main Menu | Return to Step 2 | Return to Step 2.3 | Next Step

You now should know how much water your pasture requires and how much irrigation water you have applied. However, matching the irrigation requirement and irrigation supply does not necessarily guarantee that you are irrigating well; the combination of effective irrigation and drainage management is critical to good pasture growth.

The following questions are designed to give you an indication of how effective your irrigation and drainage management is:

2.3.5.1 - What is the frequency of my irrigations?
2.3.5.2 - How long do I take to irrigate?
2.3.5.3 - How quickly do my paddocks drain?

If you are unsure about any of these issues or want more information, contact the DPI Dairy Extension Team or your farm consultant.
