With appropriate irrigation duration, equivalent irrigation performance can be achieved for a range of inflow rates and soil types.

Efficient border-check irrigation requires:

correctly designed, constructed and maintained channel structures:

well laid out bays

knowledge of the required depth of irrigation

appropriate inflow rate and inflow duration
