Common Name:

Stemless thistle, White thistle, Flat thistle

Status:

Declared Noxious weed. The Agriculture Victoria website has information about the noxious weed classification of this species.

Habitat:

Warm-temperate regions typically in areas receiving less than 450 mm annual rainfall, usually on sandy but sometimes heavier calcareous soils (Parsons and Cuthbertson 1992). It commonly occurs on pastures, roadsides and neglected areas (Parsons and Cuthbertson 1992). Stemless thistle invades mallee shrubland and lowland grassland and grassy woodland (Carr et al 1992).
