Status:

Not declared noxious in Victoria.

Habitat:

Prefers sandy soils of lowland areas, and has failed to thrive in very heavy soils, dry areas and cooler montane zones (Walsh and Entwisle 1994). Widely used as a pasture and lawn species (Muyt 2001). Kikuyu invades dry coastal vegetation, heathland and heathy woodland, lowland grassland and grassy woodland, dry sclerophyll forest and woodland, and riparian vegetation (Carr et al 1992).
