Portugal laurel (Prunus lusitanica)

Potential Distribution

Scientific name: Prunus lusitanica L.

Common Name: Portugal laurel

Status: Not declared noxious in Victoria.

Habitat: Cultivated as an ornamental, and rarely naturalised in cooler regions (Harden 1990, Walsh and Entwisle 1996). It is a weed of plantations, around areas of habitation, as well as in gardens (Webb et al 1988). Portugal Laurel invades dry sclerophyll forest and woodland, and riparian vegetation
(Carr et al 1992).
