Habitat:

Reported most invasive in riparian vegetation, preferring areas where the soil remains moist through the summer period (Bossard, Randell & Hoshovsky 2000; Calflora 2007; Hussey et al 1997). The species is also reported to occur in grassland, scrubland, forests, scattered in coastal flats and scrub, disturbed sites and waste areas (Bossard, Randell & Hoshovsky 2000; Calflora 2007; Webb, Sykes & Garnock-Jones 1988; Weber 2003). It has also been reported in chaparral; however it was restricted to riparian areas (Calflora 2007).
