Geological heritage sites, including sites of geomorphological interest and volcanic heritage sites, are under regular revision by the Geological Society of Australia, especially in the assessment of significance and values. Reference should be made to the most recent reports. Geology/Geomorphology: |
Road cuttings at this locality expose steeply dipping sandstone and shale beds of the Norton Gully Sandstone. The sandstone beds exhibit a variety of bedding structures including ripple marks and graded bedding. |
Significance: |
Local. This site displays sediments and sedimentary structures characteristic of the Norton Gully Sandstone. |
Management: |
The road cuttings are subject to mass wasting. Although this necessitates continual road maintenance, it maintains clear geological sections. |
