A11	0 – 15 cm	Brown (7.5YR5/4) with slightly darker worm casts; clay loam; strong coarse granular structure; firm consistence moist; pH 5.1; clear and smooth transition to:	CFTT12 Profile
A12	15 – 60 cm	Strong brown (7.5YR5/6); light clay; moderate coarse granular structure; firm consistence moist; pH 5.2; diffuse and smooth transition to:
Subsoil
B21	60 – 100 cm	Yellowish brown (10YR5/4), few, medium, distinct, yellowish brown (10YR5/8) mottles; light clay; moderate coarse granular structure; firm consistence moist; diffuse and smooth transition to:
B22	100 – 160 cm	Yellowish brown (10YR5/4), common, coarse, prominent, red (2.5YR4/6) mottles, light clay; moderate granular structure (less than 20 mm); firm consistence moist.

Key Profile Features:

Lack of strong texture contrast between surface (A) horizons and subsoil (B21) horizons.

The level of soluble salts is very low throughout the soil profile.

Management Considerations:

The soil profile is strongly acid throughout. Availability of some trace elements (eg. copper, molybdenum) may be low as a result. Aluminium toxicity can also be a problem in strongly acid soils. The levels measured at this site are quite high (especially in the A11 horizon) and may restrict the growth of aluminium sensitive species.
The level of exchangeable cations is quite low throughout the profile (and dominated by magnesium). Some nutrient deficiencies may occur.

Notes:

No physical impeding layer evident to 2 metres depth.
