Management considerations
  • Uniform cracking clay soil.
  • Strongly alkaline soil.
  • Self-mulching surface, friable. Subplastic (feels lighter than lab tests suggest).
  • Red upper subsoil, indicating oxidation and little restriction to water and gas movement, despite clay content.
  • Strongly calcareous in surface and upper subsoil, decreasing with depth.
  • Subsoil sodic, becoming strongly sodic with depth. Magnesium also increases with depth.
  • High salt content below 65 cm.
