A12

15–60

Dark greyish brown (7.5YR3/1); loamy sand; massive (structureless); firm consistence when moderately moist; very few fine soft segregations; pH 5.0; distinct smooth boundary to:

A13

60–120

Dark greyish brown (7.5YR3/1) with common medium greyish brown mechanical mixing from other horizons; loamy sand; massive (structureless); very weak consistence when moderately moist; pH 5.7; gradual smooth boundary to:

A2

120–140+

Light brownish grey (2.5Y6/2); conspicuously bleached (10YR7/2 dry); sand; massive (structureless); very weak consistence when moderately moist; pH 6.0.

Management Considerations:

  • Soil is sandy and deep throughout with minimal pedological development.
  • Sandy soils with high permeability and water drainage capacity.
  • Relatively low clay percentage and low inherent fertility.
  • Deep sandy soil (90% sand for all horizons).
  • Strongly acidic becoming moderately acidic with depth.
