Dark grey (2.5Y4/1); medium clay; strong coarse to medium prismatic, parting to medium to fine angular blocky structure; smooth ped fabric; very strong consistence dry; a few distinct slickensides evident; highly calcareous; pH 9.2; gradational and smooth change to:

Greyish brown (2.5Y5/2); medium clay; weak fine polyhedral structure; rough ped fabric; weak consistence moderately moist; a few extremely coarse calcareous soft segregations in patches present; very highly calcareous; pH 9.2; diffuse and smooth change to:

Management Considerations

  • High susceptibility to wind erosion.
  • Alkaline subsoils with calcareous soft segregations in patches.
  • Massive surface structure may make it vulnerable to wind erosion without stubble and trash retention.
  • Possible slight to moderate soil structure decline susceptibility due dispersibility in the deeper subsoil.
