Brownish yellow (10YR6/6) with many medium to coarse prominent dark red (10R3/6) mottles; heavy clay; strong coarse to very coarse prismatic structure; rough ped-fabric; very firm moderately moist consistence; common distinct slickensides; few fine to very fine roots ; pH 7.4; diffuse and smooth boundary to:

B22

80–110+

Dark red (10R3/6) with many coarse to very coarse prominent light yellowish brown (10YR6/4) mottles; heavy clay; weak medium to coarse prismatic structure; rough ped-fabric; strong moderately moist consistence; few distinct slickensides; few fine to very fine roots; pH 5.4.

Management Considerations

  • Strong texture contrast profile, highly sodic subsoil
  • Subsurface horizon is leached (bleached) with restrictive interface with subsoil (Note less clay than above and below). Few nutrients available
  • Acidic subsurface soil, neutral to alkaline upper subsoil and acidic deeper subsoil (local characteristic of parent material?)
  • Subsoil is very highly dispersive. Limited (preferably no) exposure necessary to remain stable. May be slightly saline with depth.
  • Surface soil is only slightly dispersive
  • Landscape position ,broad shallow ridge; slightly water shedding
