Angled Lobelia Photos

Status:
Native to all Australian States.

Plant Description:
Prostrate to ascending herb. Branches sometimes rooting at the nodes, to 50 cm long and angled or winged by the extended bases of the leaves. Leaves oblanceolate (backward pointing spear-shaped) to elliptic, 2-8 cm long and 2-20 mm wide and with undulating margins.

Flowers single and arising from the angle between leaf and stem, on short stalks 2-12 mm long. Petals blue to whitish, two lobes narrower than the other three lobes. Anthers are bearded to shortly hairy. Fruit a cone shaped capsule 5-15 mm long and 1.5-3 mm wide.

Habitat:
Sands, gravels, peaty soils, granite and limestone on hillslopes, wetlands, river banks and sand dunes.

Comments:
Similar flowers to Salt Pratia (Lobelia irrigua) but are larger and bluer.
