Native to Australia.

Description:

Erect perennial herbs to 4 m tall. Leaves on 10-15 mm stalks, broadly ovate to 20 cm long, 5-7 obtusely lobed with toothed or saw-like margins, both surfaces with spreading hairs.

Flowers clustered on stalks about 25 cm long. Petals lilac, pink or white. Fruit a schizocarp (a dry fruit made up of separate carpels or mericarps), 6-7 mm diameter, smooth or wrinkled with toothed margins.

Habitat:

Grasslands, roadsides, floodplains and adjacent water courses. Usually indicative of fresh-water environments, although it will grow on the margins of saline swamps and flats.
